ITS TERMINOLOGY is an online hypertext Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) terminology database with terms and definitions in English and Czech organized by subject area. It contains terms and definitions used in CEN and ISO standards.
SOURCE DATA: The terms, definitions and abbreviations come from more than 250 European and international standards created in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technical committees of CEN/TC 278 and ISO/TC 204. In case of inconsistences and deviations in definitions of one term, only one suitable definition was chosen.
CZECH NATIONAL STANDARD 736100-5 (2013): ITS terminology in Czech language has been systematically prepared since 2004, the works culminated in 2013 by publishing of CSN 736100-5: Terminology of Roads – Part 5: Intelligent transport systems, which contains almost 2000 terms and definitions and 500 abbreviations. This online ITS terminology database updates the terminology since 2014 and shall be regularly updated.
COLLECTIVE OF AUTHORS: The database originated within technical standardisation committee TNK 136 Intelligent Transport Systems under the guidance of SILMOS s.r.o. company, with the Czech Ministry of Transport financial support and the Czech office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMZ) approval.
COMPARISON AND ADVANTAGES
ONLINE BROWSING PLATFORM (OBP) is an international database where one can browse terms and definitions contained in ISO Standards. The platform contains the terms and definitions extracted from the entire collection of ISO Standards. This ITS terminology database focuses only on ITS standards from CEN/TC 278 and ISO/TC 204 standards.
TERMS ORDER: Terms in this dictionary are divided into 15 subject areas, presented on the main page, that correspond to the ITS fields. Terms in these 15 categories can be represented in either alphabetical or subject order.
EXTRACT: The source standard number under each term is a hyperlink that jumps to the source standard EXTRACT.
EXTRACT is a document created by reduction of a standard to approximately 5 pages, in such a way that it provides the users with adequate information about the scope of the standard and its application.
In case the source standard Extract has not been created yet, it jumps to information list about the standard.
STANDARD: Elaborated search engine system which enables searching in ITS standards according to various criteria.
